Ola S1 Air New Budget Friendly Scooter That can Beat Honda Activa

Ola Electric has given a Diwali gift to its customers. The company has finally launched its latest budget electric scooter Ola S1 Air. This scooter has been launched in the Indian market at an introductory price of Rs 79,999. After Diwali, the price of this scooter will be Rs 84,999.

Ola’s e-scooter is the best selling model of the country. Apart from Ola S1 Air, Bangalore based startup company sells Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro. If you are going to buy a new electric scooter, then first of all see the comparison of all three electric scooters.

Ola had already announced that the company’s new electric scooter will be premium and will be priced under Rs 80,000. If seen, at this price Ola’s new electric scooter can compete with all the 125cc scooters sold in the market. Currently, Ola is selling the S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters, priced at Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.

Ola S1 Air Range and Speed

The new S1 Air will get steel wheels unlike the alloy units seen on the S1 and S1 Pro and the S1 Air will also get a telescopic fork instead of the single-sided fork on the S1 and S1 Pro models. The S1 Air also doesn’t get a disc brake and instead gets drum brakes. Now let’s talk about the battery, range and speed of the scooter. The new Ola S1 lite will be powered by a hub motor rated at 4.5 kW and will be paired with a 2.5 kW battery pack. Ola claims that the S1 Air can cover a distance of 101 km on a full charge and has a top speed of 90 kmph.

The company claims that the S1 Air can cover a distance of 101 kms, S1 141 kms and Ola S1 Pro 181 kms on a single full charge. Eco, Normal and Sports modes are available in Ola S1 Air and S1, while in addition to these three modes in S1 Pro, Hyper mode is available separately.

Ola S1 Air vs S1 vs S1 Pro:

The Ola S1 and S1 Pro get a hyperdrive electric motor with a peak power output of 8.5 kW (11.3 bhp), while the S1 Air gets a smaller 4.5 kW (6 bhp) motor. The top speed of Ola S1 is 95 kmph, while the top speed of Ola S1 Pro is 116 kmph. On the other hand, the top speed of Ola S1 Air has been claimed to be 85 kmph. Ola says that with a regular charger, the S1 Air can be fully charged in 4.5 hours, the S1 in 5 hours and the S1 Pro in 6.5 hours.

All New Party Mode:

Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Agarwal had already revealed that the new scooter will come with Ola MoveOS 3, to which a new party mode is being added. This mode is being added specifically for the entertainment of the scooter which will bring improvement in the sound of the scooter. Powerful electric motor of 8.5 kWh will be given in the S1 Air. Apart from this, this electric scooter will make an engine-like sound while moving, so that the people on the road will know about the arrival of the scooter.

Talking about charging, the electric scooter can be charged from 0-100% in 4.5 hours through a home charger. The deliveries of the new S1 Air are likely to start in April 2023. The Ola S1 Air will compete with scooters from Hero Electric, Okinawa and Ampere Key.
